The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Walter Allan Kehl can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Mr. Kehl

I was only at LCVI for 2 years, but one of those years I was priviliged enough to have had Mr. Kehl as my English teacher. A lot of teachers just go in, ramble through their lesson plan and go home, but Mr. Kehl was always so animated about whatever we were talking about, and really just engaged with his students in a way that actually made you want to learn. I remember when we were reading Lord of the Flies, I absolutely hated the book, and I could not for the life of me figure out why we had to read this dumb book. But the way Mr. Kehl described the themes and how passionate he was about it, really made me appreciate it more and today I would probably even read it again because of that. I still get a chuckle at how he went on about how the movie version just completely ruined the book's ending (clearly those army guys should have had a better line than "What are you guys doin'?" and he did not let us forget that either!) Mr. Kehl really cared about his students and was always there to help when you needed him. It's a shame I never knew him personally, he seemed like the kind of guy you'd just wanna have a beer with. Anyways, I just wanted to share that so his family and friends would be able to see just a small snippet of how he affected the lives of those he taught, or at the very least, my own life. I was so saddened to hear of his passing and I offer my sincerest condolences to his family at this difficult time. Rest peacefully Mr. Kehl.
