WALLACE, Joyce ~ August 11, 1933 – December 23, 2016 ~ Passed away in her 84th year, at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay after a short battle with Cancer. Leaving behind with 64 years of marriage memories, husband James Wallace. Joyce is survived by her brother Derek Parry, sisters Lilian Siddle, and Isabel Gill; and is predeceased by her brother Douglas Haswell. She is remembered by her nieces Cathy Wright, and Sandy Bebee, and her nephew Gord Wallace. In keeping with Joyce's wishes cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay (705-328-2721).

Summer of 2016, we both noticed how my wife would doze off while reading a book, did not over think it, nobody is getting any younger, did you put a book marker in? Oops, lost our place, again. Did not seem too important but as the summer progressed, seemed walking became more difficult due to what we thought was an old back injury. September into October and finally my wife agreed to attend our family physician. Some tests were completed, the word was she had a very aggressive cancer and the chances of survival, questionable. From late September onward, Joyce bore the brunt of a steady day by day downward spiral until her passing at 8:15 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 in the palliative care unit at the Ross Memorial Hospital with myself and a caring nurse by her side.
