Marilyn Helen Vranich (Penich)
VRANICH, MARILYN HELEN (nee PENICH) "In my Father’s house there are many mansions. I go and prepare a place for you, so that you may be with me always." (John 14, vs 3). Marilyn passed away on July 22, 2017. She was born in Hamilton, Ontario on May 28 1946 to parents John and Mary (Perkovich) Penich. A faithful member of the United Church of Oakwood, she was on the Church Board and a Mission Service enthusiast. As a fifty year member of the Croatian Fraternal Union she attended many banquets, concerts and fundraisers. She was a member of the Lindsay Seniors Women’s Knitting Club where she befriended many wonderful women who became close friends. Marilyn enjoyed baking and was an avid reader. Bus trips with Cardinal Tours opened the door to a new and long-lasting friendship with Sandra and Lorna. Accompanied by her best friend Mary Lubanovic, Marilyn enjoyed her many trips to Croatia. Marilyn enthusiastically assisted Mary in discovering family members whom Mary had never met. The creating of new bonds and friendships brought great joy to Marilyn. She relished in the great times and fond memories. Friend Mary Grubic accompanied Marilyn on a European River Cruise. It was on this cruise that Marilyn and Mary reminisced about their childhood growing up in Hamilton. During her illness her “Spiritual Brother” Edward Mavrinac offered her continuous support, prayers and guidance. He was always there for Marilyn and her children and was considered to be a kindred spirit whose love will always endure. Thank the Lord for his continued support throughout. A sincere thank you to Rosaleigha Barnhart, friend and personal nurse, who was always there during Marilyn’s illness. For her kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion, love and care, sincere gratitude to God for the precious gift of Bonnie Hoyt. April Reid’s life paralleled that of Marilyn’s and with April’s daughter Colleen many happy celebrations were shared. Many evenings of movies and conversation were spent with treasured friend Zehava Taub. A special thanks to neighbor Karen Frain for her many kindnesses. Sincerest gratitude to Dr. Anthony Naasan of Lakeridge Health and Cancer Centre for his kindness, tenderness, care and compassion during Marilyn’s many years under his supervision - as well as his primary nurse Liz Cooper. Marilyn the pillar of faith and strength and example to all, will be sadly missed by her six children who were her life and her joy and who brought much laughter into her life. Marilyn will undoubtedly, from the heavenly realms watch over her daughter Gloria (Michael) Hewitt, her sons Frank, John and Robert (Erin Rayton), daughter Michelle (Shane) and son Dustin. She adored her grandsons Devin and Damin Salvemini and granddaughter Paige Hewitt. She is also survived by the father of her children John Vranich, her two brothers John and Michael Penich, her uncles Nick and John Perkovich and their respective families, her aunt Jelka Sostar of Croatia and many cousins in Croatia, Canada, the USA, Belgium and Slovenia. Marilyn will miss her cat Josie. REJOICE, REJOICE IN THE MEMORIES for “Behold I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet”.
